About Indian Cents (Proof)

The Proof Indian cent series is a challenging yet attainable pursuit for collectors. Running from 1859-1909 most of the coins can be easily assembled in affordable Proof grades (PR63-65). One can pursue examples with Brown (BN), Red-brown (RB), and Red (RD) surfaces. The RD coins are especially challenging and a collection is often assembled with a mix of these surfaces qualities. The key date in the set remains the 1877 thanks to its rarity as a business strike. Other tough dates include the 1860's issues, 1874-75.
