About 2-Cent Pieces (Proof)

The Proof Two-Cent series is quite a challenging pursuit due to the rarity of the Proof 1864 Small Motto coin. Minted from 1864-1873, most of the pieces are fairly tough to locate, except in afforable grades (PR63-65). One can pursue examples with Brown (BN), Red-Brown (RB), and Red (RD) surfaces. The RD coins are especially challenging and collections often are assembled with a mixture of these surfaces colors. The key date in the series is the 1864 Small Motto, while the 1872 and 1873 mintages are also very low.
