Auction #225 > Lot #3147 > U.S. Coins > Bust Dimes 1802 10c NGC MS61 ex:Eliasberg DLRC #: 237932

We are very excited to offer one of  the finest known examples of this tremendously difficult Bust dime issues. Lightly golden surfaces with plenty of remaining mint luster and strong originality including scattered hints of reddish hues. This is truly an exceptional piece.

Only 10,975 dimes were reported struck in 1802, and just 7 coins have been graded in any mint state level by PCGS and NGC combined -- nothing finer than MS62! In mint state the 1802 is similar in rarity to the higher mintage 1803. It seems the mintage period of 1802-1804 presents some real rarities. Of the 1804, none are known in mint state. All the more reason to reach for this great coin.
