Item Description: This is the first official year of silver dollar coinage since the hiatus taken after Bust dollars were struck in 1803.Struck from a low mintage of just 61,005 coins 1840 dollars are much scarcer than values suggest. This coin has vivid multicolor toning in shades of reds and greens. The light cleaned described on the holder occurred many years ago and the toning has covered the surfaces nicely.
