Item Description:

A major rarity in any graded above AU, only a efw example of this coin are known in mint state. This piece is lustrous and well struck with very nice eye appeal. A mint state example has not sold at auction since 2008 and PCGS and NGC have each only graded only coin finer (both in MS62 -- could be the same coin).

The 1854-D is the only Dahlonega issue in the $3 gold series. From a scant mintage of 1,120 coins very few survive in high grade.
