1795 50c NGC AU55 DLRC #: 76646 Track
Very desirable flowing hair type issue. Well struck with some light adjustment marks on the reverse
Overton-109. Here is a very attractive example of this important type coin. The fields retain luster in the protected areas and the surfaces are very pleasing for the grade. We do note minor central adjustment marks on the reverse, as this planchet was a bit heavy when it made, and the precious silver was filed away prior to striking, leaving a few tell-tale lines crossing the eagle's breast and wings. Few early half dollars are this well struck, and Liberty shows strong detail in her curls and most of the wing feathers are clear on the eagle.
Likely one of the finest known of the variety and identifiable by a minor planchet flaw between the 95 in the date near the top of those numbers. Faint die crack from the last star to Liberty's bust, as always seen on this variety.
