Item Description:
According to Brian Greer in The Complete Guide to Liberty Seated Dimes (DLRC Press, 1992), an estimated 30,000 coins were struck in 1838 with the small stars obverse. In contrast to the nearly 2 million large star coins, this major variety is much scarcer. From a practical standpoint, we had a very difficult time locating the pleasing mint state example offered here. This coin is nearly pure white with the luster of an MS64+ and excellent eye appeal.
