1870-S Seated Liberty 10c PCGS/CAC MS66
Underrated S-Mint with a Sexy Date
Why we love it
The classic Liberty Seated motif graced several United States silver denominations over the course of more than five decades. Several dates among Liberty Seated coinage are considerably scarce, and the 1870-S is a date and mintmark combination synonymous in numismatics with great rarity. As for the 1870-S Liberty Seated dime, it is a highly scarce coin in all grades, and in MS66 it is truly rare. This silky, golden-tinted gem is tied with four others as the finest graded by both services, and it is CAC approved for quality.
The CPG reflects a value of $22,400 with the PCGS Price Guide coming in at $22,500. In March 2017, the most recent auction record for the date, a non-CAC stickered example sold for just under $20,000. This premium quality example is listed for $22,000, but we can discount it a bit further to $20,500 via the Make Offer Feature. This piece is certainly destined to be one of the keystones to any better date type set or collection of Seated Dimes.
