The key to the business strike set because few were saved. This coin is considered scarce and rare in any grade. CAC approved for quality. Only the "I" in LIBERTY is missing. The "L" is partially there. Only 94 graded by PCGS at this level. CAC approved for quality.
The 1794 half dime is an exciting first-year of draped bust type, as well as the first year of the denomination, unless one counts the famed 1792 half dime which is likely a trial piece. NGC has graded just 10 of these in AU50. This coin has a pleasing overall look, with its gunmetal gray appearance. Two light scratches in the face are apparent under magnification, and in our view do not detract from the beauty of this rare piece.
