Impressive specimen that displays plenty of remaining mint luster gleaming under warm yellow-gold surfaces that show a number of minor marks consistent with the grade. The design elements are well-detailed and the eye appeal is outstanding. The primary Hansen Collection registry set hosts the finest known example for the date, a MS64+.
Flashy surfaces with great luster. Also known as Blundered Date Breen-7161, the date was first punched slanting upwards. NGC has graded 1282 1853 $20, out of which only 20 1853/1--3 VP-001 have been attributed. There is 206 1853/2 $20 graded by NGC, making this a much scarcer variety for a fraction of the price.
Bright AU! Great details for the grade with only moderate chatter in the fields, and no individually distracting marks. Superb eye appeal for the grade. An important example as few survived the original mintage of 71,000 pieces. The Hansen Collection is home to the finest known example for the date, a MS63.
Exceptionally preserved gem from the historic shipwreck. Dazzling honey-gold surfaces with frosty luster throughout. Extraordinary eye appeal! The Hansen Collection displays another example of the same grade in the number one set.
