Item Description:
Struck circa 1672-1694 in England, these popular and scarce half pennies were used by merchants in the American colonies. A great piece of early Americana. CAC approved for quality. The "London" Elephant "Halfpenny" tokens have traditionally been collected with pre-Federal American coinage due to their connection to the "CAROLINA" and "NEW ENGLAND" Elephant tokens. PCGS reports five grading events as MS64BN, bettered by one MS65BN, two MS65RB, and the superb Eliasberg MS66RB. Of these, only this MS64RB and the Eliasberg MS66RB have been approved by CAC.
