Texas Treasury Warrants were issued after Texas' secession on February 1st, 1861 and were used to pay military and civil expenses. The warrant offered here was issued for Civil service, and is the scarcer variety with the plate engraved "Eight" written over by hand to the word "Six" in the interest bearing clause at the top.
