Item Description:
Canada did not produce gold coins until 1912, the run of $5 and $10 was short lived for only 2 years since in 1914 the first war began. The majority of the coins produced never saw circulation as they were locked away in secure Canadian Bank Vaults. In 2012 the Bank of Canada held a sale of 30,000 of the 245,000 coins stored in the vaults, the remaining coins were melted.
