Auction Name: Thursday - Internet Auction # 308.
Closed On: Thursday, December 11, 2008 3:59 PM.
Realized: $10,951.

Item Description:
Just after the micro O, 1904-S and 1901-S, the 1896-O is a major stopper in the set. Just a few have been graded higher at PCGS and NGC and recent gems have sold as high as $37,375 (HNAI: 2/08). This example is essentially white with a faint hint of gold overall. It appears to be gem but the strike slightly soft on the eagle's shoulder and head which makes the coin a consensus MS64 in our opinion. A lovely example of this very rare coin.
