Auction Name: Richmond Sale, Part I.
Closed On: Wednesday, July 21, 2004 6:00 PM.
Realized: $3,680.

Item Description:
Pale yellow-gold, with coppery toning surrounding most of the lettering and devices. A pleasing example of the date and the grade.

The NGC Census Report shows a remarkable correlation between the 1842-C and 1842-D, both in the number of coins graded and the distribution of the grades. The only obvious difference is at the highest end, where a lone MS-65 1842-C beats out a single MS-61 1842-D.
